The crafting process will create 4 dark oak planks at a time. Dark oak planks can also be used as a fuel in a furnace to smelt/cook 1.5 items (1 dark oak planks will burn in a furnace for 15 seconds).

How to craft Dark Oak Planks in Survival Mode

1. Open the Crafting Menu

First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3x3 crafting grid that looks like this:

2. Add Items to make Dark Oak Planks

In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3x3 crafting grid. To make dark oak planks, place 1 dark oak log in the 3x3 crafting grid.

When making dark oak planks, it is important that the dark oak log is placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 1 dark oak log in the first box. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for dark oak planks.
