How to make Water (Compound) in Minecraft

This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a compound called Water (from the Chemistry update) with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

In Minecraft, Water is one of the compounds that you can craft using the compound creator. It is available in the Chemistry Update for Minecraft Education Edition and has also been added to Minecraft Pocket Edition, Windows 10, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch (if you enable the Education Edition chemistry features in your world).

Let's explore how to make the compound called Water.

TIP: To enable the Education Edition chemistry features in Minecraft PE, Windows 10, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch, toggle the Education Edition option in your world settings. Because Education gameplay may break your world, the game will make a copy of your world starting with [EDU]. This is the world that will contain the new Chemistry "features".

Required Materials to make Water

In Minecraft, these are the materials you can use to craft the compound called Water:

2 Hydrogen

1 Oxygen

How to craft Water

1. Open the Compound Creator Menu

First, open your compound creator so that you have the Compound Creator menu that looks like this:

2. Add Items to make Water

In the Compound Creator menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3x3 grid. To make Water, place 2 Hydrogen and 1 Oxygen in the 3x3 grid.

When crafting Water, you can place the elements anywhere in the grid and you will get the same result. In this example, we have placed 2 Hydrogen and 1 Oxygen in the second row. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for the compound called Water which has the chemical formula of H₂O.

Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct elements, the Water will appear in the output box on the right.

3. Move the Water to Inventory

Once you have crafted Water, you need to move the new item to your inventory.
