Background
The Loyalty enchantment can be added to a trident. With this enchantment, your trident will automatically return to you when it is thrown like a spear.
You can add the Loyalty enchantment to any trident using an enchanting table or anvil. Then throw the enchanted trident at your enemies and watch it return every time.
The maximum level for the Loyalty enchantment is Level 3. This means that you can enchant a trident with up to Loyalty III. The higher the level, the faster your trident will return to you.

In Minecraft, you can enchant the following items with Loyalty:
Hold the Enchanted Trident
Once you have a trident that is enchanted with Loyalty, you need to hold the enchanted trident in your hand and aim the trident like you would a bow.
Now throw the trident like you would shoot an arrow from your bow.
Once the trident strikes your target, the Loyalty enchantment will create a rope on the end of your trident. It will appear as if the trident is being pulled back to your hotbar using this rope.
Once returned, the trident will reappear in your hotbar in the first empty slot (note: this may not be the same slot the trident was in before you threw it). The higher the Loyalty enchantment, the faster your trident will return.
