The /list command is a server command that is only used if you are running a Minecraft server. This command will list all of the players that are currently connected to the server and the maximum number of players allowed on the server at a time.

How to Enter the Command

1. Open the Chat Window

The easiest way to run a command in Minecraft is within the chat window. The game control to open the chat window depends on the version of Minecraft:

  • For Java Edition (PC/Mac), press the T key to open the chat window.
  • For Pocket Edition (PE), tap on the chat button help command at the top of the screen.
  • For Xbox One, press the D-Pad (right) xbox one on the controller.
  • For PS4, press the D-Pad (right) ps4 on the controller.
  • For Nintendo Switch, press the right arrow button nintendo switch on the controller.
  • For Windows 10 Edition, press the T key to open the chat window.
  • For Education Edition, press the T key to open the chat window.

2. Type the Command

To list all of the players connected to a Minecraft server, use the following command:

/list

Type the command in the chat window. As you are typing, you will see the command appear in the lower left corner of the game window. Press the Enter key to run the command.

Once the cheat has been entered, the /list command will display the number of online players, the maximum number of players allowed on the server, and the names of the players that are currently connected.

In this example, the /list command displays the message "There are 2/20 players online: Axe2Grind, DigMinecraft". This server can handle up to 20 players and there are currently 2 players online that are named Axe2Grind and DigMinecraft.
