Types of Villages
In Minecraft, a village is a structure that spawns naturally in the game. It is made up of a small group of buildings that are inhabited by villagers. You will find villages in the different biomes and each village will be made of different materials depending on the biome.
Here are what some of the different villages look like:
Plains Village
A Plains village is found in a grassy area with lots of streams, lakes, caves, and wildlife.
Desert Village
A Desert village is found in a very dry area that is made up of sand, cacti, and dead bushes.
Savanna Village
A Savanna village is found in an area that has greenish-brown grass and is scattered with acacia trees.
Taiga Village
A Taiga village is found in an area that has large trees usually spruce trees.
Snow Village
A Snow village is found in a cold biome that is covered in snow and ice.
Meadow Village
A Meadow village looks a lot like a Plains village, but is found in a new biome that was introduced in the Caves & Cliffs Update: Part II.
Villager Homes
Depending on where you find the village, the villager homes will be made of different materials. Let's have a look.
Plains Home
In the Plains, some villager homes are made of cobblestone, mossy cobblestone, oak planks, oak logs, and oak stairs. Other homes are made out of white terracotta and stripped oak logs.
Desert Home
In the Desert, villager homes are made of smooth sandstone, cut sandstone, sandstone slabs, smooth sandstone slabs, and terracotta.
Savanna Home
In the Savanna, some villager homes are made of acacia logs, acacia planks, and brown banners. Others homes are made out of orange terracotta, yellow terracotta, or yellow glazed terracotta.
Taiga Home
In the Taiga, villager homes are mostly made of cobblestone, spruce logs, spruce trapdoors, and spruce planks.
Snow Home
In the Snow Village, some of the villager homes are made of packed ice and blue ice. Other homes are made out of snow blocks or wood.
Meadow Home
In the Meadow, some villager homes are made of cobblestone, mossy cobblestone, oak planks, stripped oak logs, and oak stairs. Other homes are made out of white terracotta and oak logs.
Trade with Villagers
A village is a great place to find villagers to trade with. There are different types of villagers and each type of villager has unique clothing and appearance that relates to the profession and their biome.
Here is a list of the professions and the work table for the different types of villagers:

Each villager will have different trades depending on the career of the villager. As you trade with a villager, new trades will be unlocked and the career level of the villager will increase one level at a time.

Gardens of Vegetables
Regardless of the type of village, you will always find large gardens made of up carrots, potatoes and wheat. It is the job of the villagers to plant and harvest these vegetables. As the crops mature, you will see villagers running around tending to these gardens and digging up the vegetables.
You can stock up on food by digging up these items yourself and adding them to your inventory. You can also find a composter along the edge of the these gardens.
Chests to Find
Finally, look for a home within the village that has stone slab on the roof. This is the home of an armorer, weapon smith, or tool smith.
Within this type of home, there is always a chest inside. Open the chest and add these items to your inventory.
