How to get Seeds in Survival Mode
You can add seeds to your inventory in Survival mode by finding tall grass and gathering it. So, let's get started!
1. Find Grass or Double Tallgrass
First, you need to find an area in your Minecraft world that has lots of grass or double tallgrass.
2. Break the Grass
The game control to break the grass depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the grass.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the grass.
- For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
- For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
- For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the grass.
- For Education Edition, left click and hold on the grass.
You will not usually get seeds when you break your first block of tall grass. You will need to continue to break the blocks of tall grass until seeds finally appear. The seeds will float on the ground.
3. Pick up the Seeds
Make sure you pick up the seeds before they disappear.
Once you pick up the seeds, they will appear in your hotbar.
Seeds are useful items and should be kept in your inventory to be used later. They are generally used to plant wheat in Minecraft.
