Hostility Level (Passive)

A tadpole is a passive mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and tadpoles. Because a tadpole is a passive mob, it will never attack you in the game (Creative or Survival mode).

Health Points

In Minecraft, a tadpole has 3 hearts heart for health. This gives a tadpole 6 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a tadpole, you need to inflict 6 points of damage to the tadpole.

Where to Find Tadpoles

In Minecraft, tadpoles hatch from frogspawn that is created through the process of breeding frogs.

If you are having trouble finding a tadpole, you can summon a tadpole using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

A tadpole does not carry a weapon.

Attack Method

You are safe to walk near a tadpole and it will not attack or cause you any damage. And if you attack a tadpole, it will just move away. It will not attack you back.

Behavior

Tadpoles can swim in water. However, if a tadpole is on land, it will "jump around" like fish on land, and eventually die.

A tadpole can also be caught in a bucket to make a Bucket of Tadpole.

When a tadpole grows up, it will turns into a frog. The type of frog it becomes depends on the biome that it was born in (ie: warm, temperate, cold). There are 3 types of frogs that the tadpole can become:

Warm Frog

frog warm

The warm frog is a white frog. Some of the biomes where tadpoles grow into warm frogs are the Mangrove Swamp, Jungle, Bamboo Jungle, Desert, Badlands, and Savanna biomes.

Temperate Frog

frog temperate

The temperate frog is orange. Some of the biomes where tadpoles grow into temperate frogs are Swamp, Forest, Birch Forest, Dark Forest, Plains, Meadow, Taiga, Beach, Lush Caves, Dripstone Caves, and River biomes.

Cold Frog

frog cold

The cold frog is green. Some of the biomes where tadpoles grow into cold frogs are Snowy Taiga, Snowy Plains, Grove, Frozen River, Frozen Peaks biomes.

Drops

When you kill a tadpole in Minecraft, it will not drop anything. Like other baby mobs, it does not drop any items when it is killed.

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

experience points

These orbs represent experience points. Unfortunately, when you kill a tadpole, you will not gain any experience points. This is similar to when you kill other baby mobs.
