Required Materials to make a Diamond Axe
In Minecraft, these are the materials you can use to craft a diamond axe:
How to craft a Diamond Axe in Survival Mode
1. Open the Crafting Menu
First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3x3 crafting grid that looks like this:
2. Add Items to make a Diamond Axe
In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3x3 crafting grid. To make a diamond axe, place 3 diamonds and 2 sticks in the 3x3 crafting grid.
When making a diamond axe, it is important that the diamonds and sticks are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. There should be 2 diamonds in the first row (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the second row, 1 diamond should be in the first box and 1 stick should be in the second box (the last box in the row should be left empty). In the third row, 1 stick should be in the middle box. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for a diamond axe.
Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, the diamond axe will appear in the box to the right.
3. Move the Diamond Axe to Inventory
Once you have crafted a diamond axe, you need to move the new item to your inventory.

Attack Damage and Durability
Attack damage is the amount of damage the item will deal when attacking a mob.
Durability represents how long the item will last. For tools, weapons and transportation, durability is the number of useful actions before the item is destroyed. For armor items, durability is the number of hits (that can be blocked by armor) before the item is destroyed. So the higher the durability number, the longer the item will last.
The following table shows the attack damage and durability for each axe in Minecraft:
Item | Name | Attack Damage | Durability |
---|---|---|---|
Netherite Axe | 10 | 2031 | |
Diamond Axe | 6 | 1561 | |
Iron Axe | 5 | 250 | |
Stone Axe | 4 | 131 | |
Wooden Axe | 3 | 59 | |
Golden Axe | 3 | 32 |
