When making a diamond sword, it is important that the diamonds and the stick are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. There should be 1 diamond placed in the middle box in the first row. In the second row, 1 diamond should be in the middle box. In the third row, 1 stick should be in the middle box. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for a diamond sword.
