Steps to Use a Bow
1. Aim the Bow
Once you have crafted a bow and at least 1 arrow, select the bow in your hotbar.
Aim the bow at a target. In this example, our target is a sheep.
2. Charge the Bow
Next, charge the bow. The game control to charge the bow depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click and hold.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold.
- For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the L2 button on the PS controller.
- For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the LT button on the Xbox controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, right click and hold.
- For Wii U, press and hold the ZL button on the gamepad.
- For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZL button on the controller.
- For Education Edition, right click and hold.
As your bow is charging, you will see the bow extend. When it is fully charged, the bow will start to shake.
3. Shoot the Arrow
Once your bow is fully charged, release the use button.
You will hear the sound of the arrow as it flies through the air. In this example, we have used the bow to shoot an arrow at a sheep. As the target takes damage, it will turn pink.
