How to mine Ancient Debris in Survival Mode

You can add ancient debris to your inventory in Survival mode by finding it and mining it in the Nether. So, let's get started!

1. Find Ancient Debris

First, let's explore where to find ancient debris. In Minecraft, ancient debris is only found underground in the Nether.

TIP: Like diamonds, ancient debris is be found at a low y-coordinate, so look for ancient debris at a y-coordinate of between 12 and 21.

2. Hold a Diamond or Netherite Pickaxe

Next, you will need a diamond pickaxe or netherite pickaxe to mine the ancient debris. Select the pickaxe in your hotbar so that you are holding it in your hand.

Other tools will not dig up the ancient debris.

3. Mine the Ancient Debris

The game control to mine the ancient debris depends on the version of Minecraft:

For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the ancient debris.
For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the ancient debris.
For Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
For PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
