In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3x3 crafting grid. To make a stone button, place 1 stone in the 3x3 crafting grid.

When making a stone button, it is important that the stone is placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 1 stone in the first box and all other boxes should be empty. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for a stone button.
