How to get Cobblestone in Survival Mode

You can add cobblestone to your inventory in Survival mode by finding a block of stone to dig up. So, let's get started!

1. Find a Block of Stone

First, you need to find a block of stone to dig up. You can find stone everywhere.

2. Hold a Pickaxe

To mine for cobblestone, you need to dig up the block of stone with a pickaxe. Select one of these pickaxes in your hotbar:

If you try to dig up the stone with your hand or other tool (that is not a pickaxe), the small block of cobblestone will not appear. And you will not be able to add the cobblestone to your inventory.

3. Mine the Block Stone

The game control to mine the stone depends on the version of Minecraft:

For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the block of stone.
For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the block of stone.
For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the block of stone.
For Education Edition, left click and hold on the block of stone.

You will need to continue to dig until the block breaks and a smaller block of cobblestone finally appears. The block of cobblestone will float on the ground.

4. Pick up the Cobblestone

Make sure you pick up the cobblestone before it disappears.
