How to get a Dead Brain Coral Block in Survival Mode
You can add a dead brain coral block to your inventory in Survival mode by finding living Brain Coral Blocks growing in a Warm Ocean biome and mining them with a pickaxe. So, let's get started!
1. Find a Brain Coral Block
First, you need to find a brain coral block in your Minecraft world. A brain coral block is a pink coral that is usually found growing underwater in a Coral Reef in the Warm Ocean biome.
This is what a brain coral block looks like:
2. Hold a Pickaxe
To mine a brain coral block, you need to dig up the brain coral block with a pickaxe. These are the pickaxes you can choose from.
If you try to mine the brain coral block with your hand or other tool (that is not a pickaxe), the small block of dead brain coral will not appear. And you will not be able to add the dead brain coral block to your inventory.
In this example, we are going to use a diamond pickaxe to mine the brain coral block.
3. Mine the Brain Coral Block
The game control to mine the brain coral block depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the brain coral block.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the brain coral block.
- For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
- For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
- For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the brain coral block.
- For Education Edition, left click and hold on the brain coral block.
You will need to continue to mine until the brain coral block breaks and a smaller dead brain coral block appears floating in the water. If you wait too long, the dead brain coral block will float to the top of the water.
TIP: Normally when you mine a brain coral block, you will get a dead brain coral block. However, when you mine the brain coral block using a pickaxe enchanted with
Silk Touch, you will get the living
brain coral block itself as a drop.
4. Pick up the Dead Brain Coral Block
Make sure you pick up the dead brain coral block before it disappears.
Once you pick up the dead brain coral block, it will appear in your hotbar.
A dead brain coral block is a useful item and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
