Hero of the Village in Minecraft

This Minecraft tutorial explains the Hero of the Village effect with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.

Background

The "Hero of the Village" effect is a status effect that is given to a player after they finish a Raid. This status effect allows the player to trade with villagers at a discounted price.

Example Trade with Hero of the Village

Here is an example of the possible trades with a Farmer (Novice level):

Since we have the "Hero of the Village" status effect, we can trade 16 carrots for an emerald, instead of the regular price of 22 carrots (which is the amount that has a red line through it).

There are levels of Hero of the Village such as Hero of the Village II, Hero of the Village III, Hero of the Village IV and so on. The higher the level of Hero of the Village, the better the trade discounts from the Villagers.

Icon and Particle Effects

When you have the "Hero of the Village" effect, the following icon will appear in the top right corner of your screen:

You will also see particle effects floating around you. In the latest version of Minecraft, these particle effects will be green.

When the "Hero of the Village" effect wears off, the icon and particle effects will disappear. You will be back to your normal status and will no longer be given discounts when trading with Villagers.

Duration

Depending on how you get the effect, the duration of the "Hero of the Village effect" will be different. To see how much time is remaining for the effect, go to your inventory menu.

In this example, it says 2:42 under "Hero of the Village" so this means that there is 2 minutes and 42 seconds remaining of the "Hero of the Village" effect.

TIP: We have noticed that when you get the "Hero of the Village" status effect after completing a Raid, your "Hero of the Village" duration will tick between 0:12 and 0:13 until you leave the village area. So you should be able to do all of the discounted trading that you want!

Definitions

Icon is the image that will appear when you have this effect.
Status Effect is what the effect is called and (Minecraft ID Name) is the string value used in the /effect command.
ID is the Internal number for the effect.
Platform is the platform that applies.
Version is the Minecraft version number that the effect was introduced for the name and ID that is listed.
