How to Barter with a Piglin in Minecraft
This Minecraft tutorial explains how to barter with a piglin with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
In Minecraft, you can exchange items with a piglin to get valuable items back including boots enchanted with Soul Speed. Let's explore how to barter with a piglin.
Required Materials to Barter with a Piglin
In Minecraft, these are the materials you need to barter with a piglin:
Steps to Barter with a Piglin
1. Wear Golden Armor
Piglins are naturally Hostile mobs that will attack you. But if you are wearing any golden armor, they will become Neutral and won't attack you (unless you provoke them).
So make sure you are wearing at least one piece of golden armor. You can choose from: golden helmet, golden chestplate, golden leggings or golden boots.
In this example, we will wear a golden helmet to keep piglins from attacking while bartering.
2. Find a Piglin
Next, you need to find a piglin. Piglins can be found in the Crimson Forest biome or in the Bastion Remnant, both of which are in the Nether dimension.

This is what a piglin looks like:
If you are having trouble finding a piglin, you can summon a piglin using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.
3. Throw (or use) the Gold Ingot
To start the bartering process, throw a gold ingot on the ground next to the piglin (you can also "use" the gold ingot on the piglin to initiate the bartering process).
4. Piglin will Examine the Gold Ingot
The piglin will turn around and pick up the gold ingot and examine it for a few seconds.
5. Piglin will Throw Back an Item
Once the piglin accepts the gold ingot, it will throw back another item in exchange and the bartering process is done.
In this example, we got boots enchanted with Soul Speed!
6. Bartering Party!
The bartering process will attract more piglins. So keep throwing gold ingot and create a bartering party!
Congratulations, you just learned how to barter with a piglin in Minecraft!
