How to get a Stripped Spruce Log in Survival Mode
You can add a stripped spruce log to your inventory in Survival mode by stripping the bark from a spruce log with an axe. So, let's get started!
1. Find a Spruce Tree
First, you need to find a spruce tree in your Minecraft world. Spruce trees are usually found in the Taiga or Old Growth Pine Taiga biomes.

2. Hold an Axe
Next, you will need to select an axe in your hotbar. These are the axes you can choose from:
In this example, we are going to select a diamond axe.
3. Strip the Bark with the Axe
Now, you need to strip the bark from a spruce log with your axe. The game control to strip the bark with an axe depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), right click on the spruce log.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap on the spruce log.
- For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press the LT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS3 and PS4, press the L2 button on the PS controller.
- For Wii U, press the ZL button on the gamepad.
- For Nintendo Switch, press the ZL button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, right click on the spruce log.
- For Education Edition, right click on the spruce log.
You should now see the bark removed from the spruce log. This turns the spruce log into a stripped spruce log.
4. Chop down the Stripped Spruce Log
The game control to chop down the stripped spruce log depends on the version of Minecraft:
- For Java Edition (PC/Mac), left click and hold on the stripped spruce log.
- For Pocket Edition (PE), you tap and hold on the stripped spruce log.
- For Xbox 360 and Xbox One, press and hold the RT button on the Xbox controller.
- For PS3 and PS4, press and hold the R2 button on the PS controller.
- For Wii U, press and hold the ZR button on the gamepad.
- For Nintendo Switch, press and hold the ZR button on the controller.
- For Windows 10 Edition, left click and hold on the stripped spruce log.
- For Education Edition, left click and hold on the stripped spruce log.
You will need to continue to chop until the stripped spruce log drops from the tree.
5. Pick up the Stripped Spruce Log
Make sure you pick up the stripped spruce log before it disappears.
Once you pick up the stripped spruce log, it will appear in your hotbar.
A stripped spruce log is a useful item and should be kept in your inventory to be used later.
