Hostility Level (Passive)

A frog is a passive mob. The term mob is short for mobile and is used to refer to all living, moving creatures in the game such as chickens, creepers, and frogs. Because a frog is a passive mob, it will never attack you in the game (Creative or Survival mode).

Health Points

In Minecraft, a frog has 5 hearts heart for health. This gives a frog 10 health points (because 1 heart = 2 health points). To kill a frog, you need to inflict 10 points of damage to the frog.

Where to Find Frogs

In Minecraft, you can find frogs in the Swamp and Mangrove Swamp biomes.

Mangrove Swamp

If you are having trouble finding a frog, you can summon a frog using a cheat or you can use a spawn egg.

Weapon

A frog does not carry a weapon.

Attack Method

You are safe to walk near a frog and it will not attack or cause you any damage. And if you attack a frog, it will just move away. It will not attack you back.

Behavior

Frogs can jump, swim, walk on land, and croak. Frogs can jump higher than most mobs in Minecraft. In fact, they can jump up to 8 blocks high, so keeping this type of mob confined to a particular area can be tricky. Because frogs are jumpers, they will also take less fall damage than other mobs.

Frogs can eat small slimes causing the slime to drop a slimeball. As there are 3 types of frogs, each frog variant can drop a specific Froglight Block. These Froglight Blocks can be used as a lightsource block.

Drops

When you kill a frog in Minecraft, it will not drop anything. It is one of the few mobs that when killed, does not drop any items.

Experience Points

As you play the game, you will gain experience. The most common way to gain experience is by killing mobs. When a mob is killed you will see tiny green and yellow balls appear and move towards you.

experience points

These orbs represent experience points. When you kill a frog, you will gain 1-3 experience points.

Types of Frogs

There are 3 different types of frogs in Minecraft - warm, temperate, and cold frogs. The type of frog that spawns in the game depends a great deal on the biome. Here are the types of frogs that can spawn in the game:

1. Warm Frog

A warm frog is a white frog and one of the three types of frogs in Minecraft. This is a picture of what a warm frog looks like:

Warm frogs can spawn naturally in the Mangrove Swamp biome. However, a warm frog can also be obtained by spawning a tadpole in a warm biome. As the tadpole ages, it will grow into a warm frog when it becomes an adult. Some of the biomes where tadpoles grow into warm frogs are the Mangrove Swamp, Jungle, Bamboo Jungle, Desert, Badlands, and Savanna biomes.

2. Temperate Frog

A temperate frog is an orange frog and is another type. This is a picture of what a temperate frog looks like:

Temperate frogs can spawn naturally in the Swamp biome. However, a temperate frog can be obtained by spawning a tadpole in a temperate biome. As the tadpole ages, it will grow into a temperate frog when it becomes an adult. Some of the biomes where tadpoles grow into temperate frogs are Swamp, Forest, Birch Forest, Dark Forest, Plains, Meadow, Taiga, Beach, Lush Caves, Dripstone Caves, and River biomes.

3. Cold Frog

A cold frog is a green frog. This is a picture of what a cold frog looks like:

frog cold

Cold frogs do not spawn naturally in the game. A cold frog can be obtained by spawning a tadpole in a cold biome. As the tadpole ages, it will grow into a cold frog when it becomes an adult. Some of the biomes where tadpoles grow into cold frogs are Snowy Taiga, Snowy Plains, Grove, Frozen River, Frozen Peaks biomes.
