How to make a Chiseled Bookshelf in Minecraft
This Minecraft tutorial explains how to craft a chiseled bookshelf with screenshots and step-by-step instructions.
In Minecraft, a chiseled bookshelf is a new item that was introduced in Minecraft 1.20. It is more classic, decorative-looking bookcase that is filled with brown books, rather than the more colorful red, blue, and yellow books found in the regular bookshelf. You can stack chiseled bookshelves next to each other or on top of one another to create your own library.
Let's explore how to make a chiseled bookshelf.

Required Materials to make a Chiseled Bookshelf
In Minecraft, these are the materials you can use to craft a chiseled bookshelf:
TIP: You can use any type of wood planks or wooden slabs! You don't have to gather them all.
How to craft a Chiseled Bookshelf in Survival Mode
1. Open the Crafting Menu
First, open your crafting table so that you have the 3x3 crafting grid that looks like this:
2. Add Items to make a Chiseled Bookshelf
In the crafting menu, you should see a crafting area that is made up of a 3x3 crafting grid. To make a chiseled bookshelf, place 6 wood planks and 3 wooden slab in the 3x3 crafting grid.
When crafting with wood planks, you can use any kind of wood planks, such as oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, bamboo, crimson, warped or cherry planks. You can also use any kind of wooden slabs, such as oak, spruce, birch, jungle, acacia, dark oak, mangrove, bamboo, crimson, or warped slabs. In our example, we are using oak planks and oak slabs.
When making a chiseled bookshelf, it is important that the wood planks and wooden slabs are placed in the exact pattern as the image below. In the first row, there should be 3 wood planks. In the second row, there should be 3 wooden slabs. In the third row, there should be 3 wood planks. This is the Minecraft crafting recipe for a chiseled bookshelf.
Now that you have filled the crafting area with the correct pattern, the chiseled bookshelf will appear in the box to the right.
3. Move the Chiseled Bookshelf to Inventory
Once you have crafted a chiseled bookshelf, you need to move the new item to your inventory.
Congratulations, you have made a chiseled bookshelf in Minecraft!
